Greetings

play_circle_filled
  • Italian greetings are usually warm and rather formal.
  • A handshake with direct eye contact and a smile is the common greeting when meeting someone for the first time.
  • Once familiar with someone, it is common to add air kisses on both cheeks (starting with your left) to the greeting, as well as a pat on the back between men.
  • Address a person by their title and last name, and continue to do so until invited to move to a first name basis.
